Merit Contractors Association of Nova Scotia

Merit Contractors Association of Nova Scotia was established in 1994 and offers membership to open shop construction companies in Nova Scotia. Whether you have 5 employees or 5,000, our benefit plan is designed for contractors offering a great price with outstanding coverage and portability.

Specific goals of the Association and its members are to promote safe healthy working conditions and to ensure fair representation to employees and employers in Nova Scotia.

• Advocate to Government and Industry – On open shop issues related to employers and their employees.
• Comprehensive Medical Benefit Plan – Family coverage for Prescription Drugs, Dental,

• Construction JobStores – Free online job store where jobs and resumes may be posted by employers and employees.
• Apprenticeship Tuition Reimbursement Fund – Reimbursements for eligible Merit apprentices upon successful completion of training blocks.
• Apprenticeship Awards Program – Annual awards to recognize apprentices who excel in their trade and are nominated by their employer.
• Skills Canada – Nova Scotia Competition – Merit apprentices are eligible to receive support from Merit Nova Scotia if they compete in the Skills Competition.
• Employer of Excellence Awards – Recognizing employers who demonstrate outstanding
  Human Resource services. Employers are nominated by their employees.
• Retirement Planning – Self directed RRSP and retirement programs.
• Supervisory Training Program – To enhance supervisory skills.
